Small Businesses Need Marketing Help, Why They Don’t Seek It Out

We have talked with many small businesses that have big dreams for their brand and business. Many have gone the traditional route with newspaper ads and radio time. These are great media channels, if you know that’s where your ideal customer is. If it’s not, then looking into other opportunities may be better.

Many small businesses, sadly, make mistakes that put their businesses as risk of going out of business. Each business is unique. Their direction, goals, and timeline are always different. The business that survives is closing business (making money), gaining market share (sharing their competition), and growing their business (taking money away from their competitors). Many small businesses don’t know when to ask for help, and this can be their biggest downfall. This list explains why their marketing will fail.

So, can we buy you a cup of coffee? Maybe we can help.

What Simon Says about Your Social Media

Posted by: Dallas J. Moore | Posted on: March 2nd, 2012 | 2 Comments

If you think back to all the games you used to play when you were a kid, one we remember is Simon. A version of the ever popular Simon says, but played on an individual basis and electronically.

The reason this is important is that this is a game that more or less is about following the leader. Do as I do, do as I say. Looking at this from a business standpoint, it can be a catastrophe waiting to happen. What happens when a brand or business follows the advertising or marketing concept or style of another? We don’t know who’s who and one looks like a leader and the other like a follower. To succeed, social media needs to be individualized. Doing what everyone else is doing is a bad idea.  It’s also lazy and an overall poor strategy.

What Simon should say about social media, is don’t listen to me. Decide to go your own direction and not to follow the leader. The people who are your ideal customer won’t attach meaning to you, because you look like a follower. Everyone else won’t care enough to even pay attention to you. So, where does that leave you? We hope taking the batteries out of Simon and putting it in the garage sale pile. If you’re ready to get serious about social media, let us know. We’d love to help you create a custom approach to kicking ass!
